29th December 1916, I am commanded by the Army Council to send you
the Garrison of Hong Kong in the Financial Year 1916/17 and the Military Contribution in respect of that period.
It will be seen that the cost to Imperial Funds was approximately £181,493. in excess of the (provisional) contribution paid by the Colony.
